Service Center at the Theresienwiese

Volker Staab | Website | 2004 | Visitor Information

Matthias-Pschorr-Straße 4, Munich 80336, Germany

The service center is not supposed to be the first building of the centuries released "Wies'n", but as an infrastructure element of the Oktoberfest. During the festival it announces its function, and in the remaining months it has to protect the technical treasures of its interior.

The building lies with its precise, simple form unspectacular on the large flat field and goes beyond the matter into a chameleon in the color of the Theresienwiese. The copper sheet bridges structures only through a differentiated surface, the change of closed and perforated copper sheets, its internal structure. Through the complete enclosure of the building part, all areas that are accessible from the meadow, protected, only the inaccessible from the outside courtyards are glazed large area. With commissioning of the building, the external image changes. Three large, open-topped gates mark the three public entrances to the building.
