MoPOP is housed in a 140,000 square foot Frank O. Gehry designed building. A fusion of textures and myriad colors, MoPOP’s exterior conveys all the energy and fluidity of music. Three-thousand panels, made up of 21 thousand individually cut and shaped stainless steel and painted aluminum shingles, encase the outside of the building. Their individual finishes respond to different light conditions and appear to change when viewed from different angles, reminding audiences that music and culture is constantly evolving.Whether it’s the greatest guitarists of all time or the scariest moments in cinema, The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) takes you behind-the-scenes with the biggest musicians, filmmakers, innovators, and game-changers of our time, and invites you to unlock your own creative potential through in-depth exhibitions and hands-on experiences that bring pop culture to life. The museum also offers community and educational programs for audiences of all ages and pop culture interests. From the region’s premier youth band competition and the acclaimed Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival, to arts camps, mentor-ship programs, teacher development—MoPOP is a place for discovery, inspiration, and learning.
