The New Center Altona is a planned transport and urban development project for the reorganization of the Hamburg-Altona railway junction . The centerpiece is the decommissioning of the Hamburg-Altona terminus station and the expansion of the former S-Bahn station Diebsteich to the long-distance railway station . In the process, large track surfaces are mined and made available to urban development . These tracks include the station Altona with its track apron, the tracks of the former freight yard Altona, the facilities of the former railway depot Hamburg-Altona. The urban development project is carried out by the ECE project management to plans by the Hamburg architect André Poitiers, the transport project by the Deutsche Bahn. The planning approval decision was made at the end of 2017, and construction began in the summer of 2018.
